Sainik School, RMS & RIMC Coaching in Somnath
Here is something about Somnath that has no parallel in India.
This temple was destroyed and rebuilt 17 times.
Seventeen.
Not once. Not twice. Not even five times. Seventeen complete destructions. And seventeen complete rebuildings.
The first known historical attack - Arab governor Al-Junayd in 725 CE. The most famous attack - Mahmud of Ghazni in 1025 CE. He came with an army, broke the Jyotirlinga, looted treasure worth 20 million dinars, and killed tens of thousands of defenders.
After that - Kumarapala of the Chaulukya dynasty rebuilt it. Alauddin Khilji's army came in 1299. Rebuilt again. Zafar Khan destroyed it in 1395. Rebuilt again. Mahmud Begada attacked. Rebuilt. Aurangzeb in 1702 - last destruction. And then - the temple was not rebuilt until after India's independence.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel - the Iron Man of India, himself from Gujarat - gave the order to rebuild Somnath after independence. He stood at the ruins and said this temple will be rebuilt. The present structure was completed in 1951. Patel did not live to see it finished. He died in December 1950.
But the temple was rebuilt.
Seventeen times destroyed. Seventeen times rebuilt.
There is no temple in India with this history. And possibly no temple in the world with this history.
Somnath means Lord of the Moon - Soma being the Moon God, Nath being Lord. The Moon God prayed here to be released from a curse. Lord Shiva appeared. The first of the twelve Jyotirlingas was established here.
The first Jyotirlinga. Among all twelve. Somnath is first.
Standing on the western coast of Gujarat. The temple where Triveni Sangam - the confluence of rivers Kapila, Hiran, and Saraswati - meets the Arabian Sea.
Also nearby - Bhalka Teertha. The sacred spot where Lord Krishna received the arrow from a hunter's bow and departed the mortal realm. Where his journey on earth ended.
So Somnath carries both the origin of a major Shiva pilgrimage tradition and the site of Krishna's departure from earth.
Birth of Jyotirlinga worship. End of Krishna's earthly presence.
One small coastal city in Gujarat's Gir Somnath district.
Sainik School Coaching in Somnath exists for the children of this extraordinarily significant city. Also RMS Coaching in Somnath and RIMC Coaching in Somnath.
Let me be specific about what the Somnath story means for preparation.
Seventeen times. Destroyed completely. Not repaired. Not damaged and restored. Destroyed.
Seventeen times the stones were knocked down. The idol was broken. The priests fled. The gold was taken.
Seventeen times someone came back and rebuilt.
Not because it was easy. Not because the threat was gone. Because the act of rebuilding was itself the statement of faith and defiance.
The people who came back after the twelfth destruction to rebuild for the thirteenth time - they knew it might be destroyed again. They rebuilt anyway.
That is a standard of determination that is worth understanding deeply.
Your child preparing for AISSEE ↗ will face mock tests with disappointing scores. Will face sections that resist understanding. Will have weeks where nothing seems to stick.
The Somnath standard. Rebuild. Again. Without calculation of whether it is worth it.
Mock test score was low. Rebuild. Identify what failed. Work on it. Take the next mock test.
English feels impossible. Rebuild. More practice. Different approach. More time.
Seventeen rebuildings.
Your child's preparation needs seventeen recoveries if necessary.

RIMC Coaching in Somnath - the Somnath story is one of the most powerful resilience narratives in Indian history. A child who understands this story deeply - not as a religious fact but as a historical narrative of persistence - has interview material that RIMC panels rarely encounter with this specificity and depth.
The final rebuilding of Somnath after Indian independence deserves specific attention.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Iron Man of India. The man who integrated 562 princely states into the Indian Union. The man who organized the entire administrative structure of independent India while Nehru handled the political vision.
He came to the ruins of Somnath. He stood there and said - this temple will be rebuilt as an act of national pride.
He used government resources and private donations. He faced opposition - some felt a secular government should not fund temple reconstruction. He persisted.
He died December 15, 1950. The temple was completed and consecrated in May 1951, under the patronage of then-President Rajendra Prasad, against Nehru's advice.
Patel saw Somnath's rebuilding as a statement about India's independence. About the right of the Indian people to reclaim what had been repeatedly taken from them.
That sense of national pride. Of reclaiming. Of rebuilding what was destroyed.
That is what the Indian Army represents for Somnath families. The guarantee that what India has built will not be destroyed again. The assurance that no Mahmud of Ghazni will come again to break what was built with devotion.
An officer from Somnath - serving in the Indian Army - is part of that guarantee.

The temple's flag is changed five times daily. Fixed schedule. It does not wait for late devotees. It does not adjust for weather. The Sainik School age window has the same temple discipline. January 31 cutoff. Age 10 to 12 for Class 6. Age 13 to 15 for Class 9. Fixed. Non-negotiable. Be within the window. Be prepared when the flag changes.
Fisherman from near the Somnath coast. Father and grandfather both fishermen on the Arabian Sea. Son in Class 4.
He came to talk to me after his morning visit to the temple.
He said - yeh mandir 17 baar gira aur 17 baar bana. Mere bete ke liye ek baar ki mehnat bahut nahi hai.
This temple was destroyed 17 times and rebuilt 17 times. For my son, is one attempt too much effort?
No. One attempt - one preparation cycle - is nothing compared to seventeen rebuildings.
His son in Class 4 - two full years to Class 6 AISSEE.
The boy helps his father on the fishing boat sometimes. Physically strong. Good with practical calculations. Quick learner.
We started. Math foundation. English daily. GK habit. Physical training to channel the physical energy he already has.
Best Sainik Coaching in Somnath works for this fisherman's family. Two years of preparation is a small ask compared to seventeen rebuildings of the same temple.
Genuine strengths.
Historical GK depth - First Jyotirlinga. 17 destructions and rebuildings. Mahmud of Ghazni 1025. Sardar Patel 1950. Bhalka Teertha. Triveni Sangam. Krishna's departure. All this is local history here. GK sections in military school exams draw from Indian history. Somnath children have extraordinary material.
Spiritual conviction - genuine, lived spirituality. Not performed. This shows in interview settings.
Physical fitness - coastal fishing communities. Active outdoor lifestyle. Sea builds bodies. Medical standards achievable.
Coastal awareness - Arabian Sea. Fishermen. Trade routes. Geography knowledge from lived experience.
What needs work.
English - pilgrimage and fishing economy. Gujarati medium schools. English needs 15-18 months of daily dedicated work. Start immediately.
Math for competitive exams - fishing calculation is different from exam algebra and geometry. Needs exam-specific coaching.
Current affairs GK - historical GK is strong but national current affairs needs daily newspaper habit.
Speed training - timed mock test practice from year two.
For Class 6 entry - start in Class 4. Full two years.
For Class 9 entry - start at beginning of Class 7. One year.
For RIMC - start in Class 6. Two full years. Essay writing from week one. The Somnath story - 17 rebuildings, Sardar Patel, national pride - is an essay topic in itself. Practice writing about it.
Junagadh is about 82 km from Somnath. Rajkot is about 170 km. Both have coaching resources.
Somnath. First Jyotirlinga. Seventeen destructions. Seventeen rebuildings. Sardar Patel's 1950 order to rebuild as an act of national pride. Bhalka Teertha where Krishna departed. Triveni Sangam where three rivers meet the sea.
A temple that refused to stay destroyed.
Sainik School Coaching in Somnath exists because Gujarat quota is 67%. Because Somnath children carry historical depth, spiritual conviction, and physical toughness that these exams reward. Because seventeen rebuildings is the most powerful preparation metaphor that any city in India carries.
The exam does not ask how many times Somnath was destroyed. Does not ask about Mahmud of Ghazni's loot. Does not ask about Sardar Patel's 1950 speech.
It asks math. English. Reasoning. GK.
Can your child answer correctly?
With the right preparation. Yes.
The temple was rebuilt seventeen times.
Your child can rebuild from every setback in the preparation cycle.
Start now.
