Sainik School, RMS & RIMC Coaching in Bihar
Here is something most people do not know about Bihar.
This state has its own infantry regiment. Not shared with others. The Bihar Regiment. Raised in 1941. Headquarters at Danapur Cantonment, Patna. Second oldest cantonment in entire India.
I did not fully understand the significance when I first learned. Bihar? The state everyone talks about for politics and migration? Having its own elite regiment?
Yes. Bihar Regiment. 23 battalions currently. INS Vikramaditya, Navy's largest ship and sole aircraft carrier, is affiliated to this regiment. An infantry unit connected to biggest naval vessel. Think about that.
A state that has its own regiment defending borders. Why should it not also produce more officers to lead them?
Everyone knows about Galwan now. June 2020. India-China clash. But let me tell you the Bihar part because it matters.
Colonel Santosh Babu was commanding 16 Bihar Regiment that night. June 15, 2020. Ladakh. 15,000 feet altitude. Freezing cold.
Chinese troops had violated the disengagement agreement. Built structures on Indian side. Colonel Babu went to talk. Peaceful resolution first.
A Chinese soldier pushed him.
His men saw it. They attacked. No guns allowed under international rules. So hand-to-hand combat. Stones. Clubs. Fists. Bodies falling into icy Galwan river.
Colonel Babu took a rock to his head around 9 PM. Blood streaming. He kept fighting. Kept commanding. Until he fell into the freezing water.
Twenty Indian soldiers died that night. They killed estimated 40 Chinese. Maybe more. Beijing still hides real numbers.
Colonel Babu received Maha Vir Chakra. Posthumous. India's second-highest gallantry award.
Salman Khan is making a movie about him now. Battle of Galwan. 2026 release.
This is what Bihar Regiment soldiers are made of.
Sainik School Coaching in Bihar exists because more such officers should come from this soil.
Let me go back further. To Veer Kunwar Singh.
April 23, 1858. Jagdishpur. Bihar. He was eighty years old. Already a legend.
While crossing the Ganges, British soldiers shot at his boat. Bullet shattered his left wrist. Blood everywhere.
What did he do?
He pulled his sword. Cut off his own arm. Threw it into the river as offering to Mother Ganga. Then turned around. Led his men into battle. Won.
Three hours later, Captain Le Grand's British forces were completely destroyed. Union Jack came down from Jagdishpur Fort. Kunwar Singh's flag went up.
At eighty. With one arm. Against the most powerful empire on earth.
A British historian wrote about him later. "It was our luck he was eighty years old. Had he been any younger, the British would have left India by 1857."
Why does this matter for Sainik School coaching?
Because it shows something about Bihar. This state has warrior blood. From 1757 when Lord Clive raised 34th Sepoy Battalion in Patna with Bhojpur soldiers. To 1857 when Bihari troops led the revolt. To 1971 when Bihar Regiment captured Akhaura. To 2020 when they fought at Galwan.
Military School Entrance Coaching in Bihar builds on this 267-year martial tradition.
Bihar has a unique position in India's military school map.
First and only state to have TWO Sainik Schools inaugurated on same day. October 12, 2003. Defence Minister George Fernandes cut ribbons at both Nalanda and Gopalganj. Same day.
Sainik School Nalanda - Near Pawapuri. Banks of Panchane river. About 90 km from Patna. Over 150 officers produced already. Campus named after Mauryan dynasty. Alumni association called MOCA - Mauryan Old Cadets Association.
Sainik School Gopalganj - Started in old Hathua Maharaj estate near Mirganj. About 150 km from Patna. Near Siwan Junction. Recently shifted to permanent campus at Sipaya village. Danapur Cantonment is in Patna itself. Bihar Regimental Centre. Where every Bihar Regiment soldier trains.
This concentration is both advantage and responsibility.
Advantage because military culture is visible here. Children see soldiers on streets. Hear bugles from cantonment. Military heritage at doorstep.
Responsibility because Bihar should produce more officers given this legacy. Currently not happening at the scale it should.
A man from Muzaffarpur called me. His son is in Class 4. Wants Sainik School admission β.
Three generations. One dream. Still incomplete.
I asked why Sainik School specifically. Why not regular school and then NDA directly?
He said: "Regular school does not prepare for NDA life. Sainik School does. Discipline. Physical training. Military environment. By Class 12, boy is ready."
He had done his research. Sainik School students have much higher NDA selection rate than regular school students. The preparation starts from Class 6. Seven years of conditioning.
Best Sainik Coaching in Bihar exists because families like his are looking for it.
From Patna, several military schools are reachable.
Sainik School Nalanda - About 90 km. Established 2003. Near Pawapuri. Direct road connectivity. Weekend visits possible.
Sainik School Gopalganj - About 150 km. Established 2003. Near Siwan Junction. Shifted to permanent campus recently.
Sainik School Tilaiya - Jharkhand. About 180 km from Patna. Option if your child wants neighboring state.
Sainik School Rewa - Madhya Pradesh. About 350 km. This school has produced current Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and current Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi. Same batch. Same school. Historic.
RIMC Dehradun - About 850 km. The toughest one. Only 250 seats for entire India.
The closest options are within Bihar itself. Two Sainik Schools. Both with 67% seats reserved for Bihar domicile students.
AISSEE. All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination. Conducted by NTA.

This trips up many families. Read carefully.
Sainik School Class 6: Age between 10-12 years as on 31st March of admission year.
Sainik School Class 9: Age between 13-15 years as on 31st March.
RIMC Class 8: Age between 11.5 and 13 years.
No exceptions. No flexibility. Miss the window and wait for next level or give up entirely.
I have seen parents who started preparing too late. Child aged out before exam. Nothing can be done at that point.
Calculate backwards. Plan accordingly.
I have taught students from many places. Bihar students have certain characteristics.
Hunger to prove themselves. Bihar gets mocked often. Students want to show what they can do. This motivation is powerful.
Strong in Mathematics. Bihar education, despite problems, produces good math students. The culture values numerical ability.
Less exposure to reasoning. Schools here do not teach logical reasoning. This becomes weakness in entrance exams. Needs specific preparation.
Family pressure present. Joint families. Everyone has opinion. Sometimes helpful. Sometimes overwhelming. Needs channeling.
Physical fitness good in rural areas. Walking common. Outdoor games natural. Urban kids from Patna sometimes less fit.
These are realities. Work with them.
Let me give you actual numbers. Bihar Regiment decorations.
7 Ashoka Chakras. 9 Maha Vir Chakras. 21 Kirti Chakras. 49 Vir Chakras. 70 Shaurya Chakras. 448 Sena Medals.
Theatre Honours: Burma. Akhaura. Kargil.
Battle Honours: Haka. Gangaw.
1971 war: 10 Bihar captured Akhaura in East Pakistan. First major Indian victory. Led to surrender of 93,000 Pakistani soldiers.
Kargil 1999: 1 Bihar captured Point 4268 and Jubar Ridge in Batalik sector. 19 soldiers martyred. Major Saravanan first officer to fall. Leading from front.
Galwan 2020: 16 Bihar lost 20 soldiers including Commanding Officer. But held every inch of Indian territory.
This is the legacy RMS Class 6 and 9 Preparation in Bihar connects to.
I will be direct.
Bihar has coaching centers but most focus on engineering and medical entrances. Sainik School specific coaching is limited.
Most families either:
Send children to Delhi or Lucknow for coaching
Rely on online classes
Attempt self-study with books
Give up and choose regular schools
Option 1 is expensive and separates families. Option 3 rarely works for competitive exams. Option 4 is surrender.
Option 2 - online coaching - is becoming the realistic choice for most Bihar families outside Patna.
Technology has improved. Video classes work. WhatsApp doubt clearing works. PDF worksheets work. Weekly tests on Google Forms work.
For students in Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, Begusarai - online coaching is practical solution.
Daily schedule for serious candidate:
Morning (6-8 AM): Mathematics. Mind is fresh. Solve problems. Not just read theory.
School hours: Regular school. Cannot skip this.
Afternoon (4-6 PM): Intelligence and reasoning. Pattern practice. Series completion. Analogies.
Evening (7-8 PM): GK and current affairs. Read newspaper. Discuss with parents.
Night (8:30-9:30 PM): Language section. Grammar rules. Vocabulary. Comprehension practice.
Sunday: Full mock test. Proper timing. OMR sheet practice.
This happens 6 days a week. For 6-12 months before exam.
Less than this does not produce results in competitive exams.
Private school education Class 6 to Class 12: Rs 3-5 lakh total (modest estimate for Bihar).
Engineering college: Rs 8-15 lakh for 4 years.
Medical college (private): Rs 50 lakh to 1 crore.
Now compare.
Sainik School Class 6 to Class 12: Approximately Rs 1-1.5 lakh per year. But scholarships exist. Defence personnel get concessions. Income-based subsidies available.
After Sainik School, if child clears NDA: Free education at National Defence Academy β. Stipend paid to cadets. Commission as officer. Lifetime career. Pension. Medical benefits. Respect.
The math is obvious. Sainik School is investment, not expense.
Clear written exam and you still face medical test.
Height requirements exist. Different for different age groups. Check current standards.
Weight must be proportionate.
Vision checked. Some vision problems disqualify.
Hearing tested.
General fitness assessed.
Many students clear written exam but fail medical. City students especially. Too much sitting. Screen time. Processed food. Obesity becoming common even in Bihar now.
Rural Bihar children have advantage here. Outdoor lifestyle. Physical activity built into daily life. Walking to school. Playing in fields. Swimming in rivers.
Do not waste this advantage.
Let me give you numbers that matter.
Sainik School Nalanda might have 100 seats for Class 6. Applications come from across Bihar and other states. Maybe 5,000-8,000 applications. Acceptance rate: 1-2%.
Sainik School Gopalganj similar numbers.
RIMC Dehradun has 250 seats for entire India. Applications: Lakhs. Acceptance rate: Less than 0.5%.
These are not easy exams. I will not pretend otherwise.
But someone clears them. Someone's child gets admission. Why not yours?
The children who succeed are not geniuses. They are prepared. They have practiced. They have consistency.
Sainik School Coaching in Bihar provides that preparation.
This deserves its own section because it is unprecedented.
General Upendra Dwivedi. Current Chief of Army Staff. Alumnus of Sainik School Rewa. Batch of 1981. Roll number 931.
Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi. Current Chief of Naval Staff. Alumnus of Sainik School Rewa. Same batch. Roll number 938.
First time in Indian military history that Army Chief and Navy Chief are from same school, same batch.
Their classmate Professor Amit Tiwari still remembers. Roll number 929. He was Admiral Tripathi's roommate for eight years. General Dwivedi's desk partner for three years.
He says: "Both were extremely disciplined. Focused. Stayed away from controversies. Never part of any groupism."
Sainik School Rewa is 350 km from Patna. Not in Bihar but shows what Sainik Schools can produce.
Bihar's own Sainik Schools at Nalanda and Gopalganj can produce such leaders too. If the right students enter. If the preparation is proper.
Sainik Schools are not regular schools. Physical training is mandatory. Daily.
Morning PT at 5:30 AM. Running. Exercises. Drills.
Games period every evening. Football. Hockey. Basketball. Athletics.
NCC training. Camps. Hikes. Obstacle courses.
A child who cannot run or do basic exercises will struggle. Not just fail admission medical. Struggle daily even after joining.
Bihar children from rural areas usually handle this well. They are physically active naturally. Urban kids from Patna need to start exercising before joining.
Include physical activity in preparation. Not just studies. Running. Swimming if possible. Basic exercises.
This is crucial. Understand this clearly.
Sainik Schools reserve 67% seats for home state students.
Remaining 33% is for other states.
What does this mean?
If you are Bihar domicile, you compete mainly against other Bihar students for 67% seats. Not against students from all over India.
This is massive advantage. Use it.
Get domicile certificate ready. Ensure documents are proper. Do not lose this advantage due to paperwork issues.
Bihar Regiment gets soldiers from Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and.
But officers? They come through NDA. From across India.
Bihar Regiment currently has officers from many states. Nothing wrong with that. But imagine if more officers were from Bihar itself.
Officers who understand the soldiers because they come from same soil. Speak same language. Know same culture.
Sainik School is the pipeline. It prepares students for NDA. NDA produces officers. Officers lead regiments.
Your child entering Sainik School today could be commanding Bihar Regiment companies twenty years from now.
The journey:
Class 6: Clear Sainik School entrance
Class 10: Board exams
Class 12: Board exams plus NDA written exam
After Class 12: NDA training. Three years.
Graduation: Commission as Lieutenant
This is the path. RIMC Coaching in Bihar and Sainik School coaching start this path.
Bihar is large state. Students come from many places.
Patna : Patna, Nalanda, Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, Kaimur, Gaya, Jehanabad, Arwal, Nawada, Aurangabad.
Magadh : Already included above mostly. Video classes. Weekly tests. Doubt clearing through calls and WhatsApp.
Let me list what I see frequently.
Starting too late. Preparation for Class 6 entry should ideally start in Class 4. Many parents wake up in Class 5 second half. Too late for thorough preparation.
Ignoring reasoning section. Schools do not teach it. Parents do not know about it. Then child sees reasoning questions in exam and panics.
No mock tests. Studying chapters is different from solving 125 questions in 150 minutes. Without timed practice, even prepared students fail.
Overlooking medical requirements. Child clears written exam. Fails medical due to vision or weight issues. All preparation wasted.
Wrong age calculation. Child is too old or too young for the entry class. Discovered only when filling form. Opportunity lost.
Not getting domicile certificate. Loses 67% reservation advantage. Competes in 33% general category. Much harder.
Avoid these. Plan properly.
Bihar has special place in education history.
Nalanda University. Ancient seat of learning. Students came from China, Korea, Japan, Tibet, Persia. 5th century onwards.
University was destroyed by Bakhtiyar Khilji, But the legacy remains. The name lives on.
Sainik School Nalanda carries this name. Located near the ancient university ruins. The connection is intentional.
Bihar was once the education capital of Asia. It can rise again.
When your child enters Sainik School Nalanda, they are not just joining a military school. They are connecting to 1500-year old tradition of excellence.
Bihar is changing.
Not as fast as some want. But changing nonetheless.
The rifle factories have not come here like Amethi. The IT parks are limited. But the human potential is enormous.
Your child can be part of something bigger than local politics and migration stories. Not as someone who left Bihar for opportunities elsewhere. As someone who brings glory to Bihar from within.
The entrance exams do not ask which caste you belong to. They ask mathematical questions. Reasoning puzzles. General knowledge. Language skills.
Can your child answer correctly? That is the only question that matters.
Sainik School Coaching in Bihar exists because the answer can be yes. With preparation. With consistency. With the same determination that made Veer Kunwar Singh fight at eighty with one arm.
Bihar Regiment has 7 Ashoka Chakras. 9 Maha Vir Chakras. 70 Shaurya Chakras.
One admission. One exam.
The regiment proved Bihar blood can defend India. Now prove your child can join them.
From Jagdishpur 1858 to Galwan 2020. The tradition continues
