Sainik School, RMS & RIMC Coaching in Kannur
Here is something most people do not know about Kannur.
This district is the home of the oldest martial art in the world.
Kalaripayattu. Practiced in Kerala for over 3,000 years according to tradition, with the strongest surviving training centres - the kalari - concentrated in north Kerala, especially around Kannur and Thalassery.
Kalaripayattu predates almost every other documented martial art system on Earth. It influenced Chinese martial arts through trade and travel connections - some historians trace links between Kalaripayattu and the development of Shaolin kung fu through Bodhidharma, the monk who traveled from South India to China.
The training is brutal and comprehensive - body conditioning with medicinal oil massage, weapons training (sword, shield, spear, the flexible urumi sword-whip), unarmed combat, and a specific marma (vital points) knowledge system that doubles as both combat and healing.
3,000 years of military training tradition. From this district.
And Kannur is home to a significant Indian Army cantonment - the Cannanore Cantonment, one of the older British-established cantonments in South India, still active. The Defence Security Corps and other units have a presence here.
And Kannur has Theyyam - a ritual performance art form unique to north Kerala, where performers undergo elaborate transformation through costume, makeup, and trance to embody deities. Theyyam performances happen in temple groves across Kannur district, particularly in winter months.
And Kannur has Kerala's strongest handloom weaving tradition - the Kannur handloom cooperative societies are among the most successful in India, producing fabric that goes to export markets.
Kalaripayattu 3,000 years. Cannanore Cantonment. Theyyam ritual performance. Handloom export cooperative.
That is why we run Sainik School Coaching in Kannur. Also RMS Coaching in Kannur and RIMC Coaching in Kannur. Kalaripayattu training begins with years of body conditioning before any weapon is touched. The student learns to control their own body completely - flexibility, balance, breath, strength - before learning to fight. The foundation comes first. Always. The AISSEE preparation follows the same Kalari principle. Foundation first - basic Math operations, basic grammar rules, fundamental concepts. Only after the foundation is solid does advanced practice - weapon work, in Kalari terms - begin. Skip the foundation, and even years of advanced practice produces a flawed fighter. Build the foundation. Then advance.
Strict. No exceptions.

Traditional Kalaripayattu training begins at a very young age - historically as young as 7, because the body's flexibility and the mind's discipline are most receptive then. Starting too late means never achieving full mastery of certain techniques. These exam windows work similarly. The earlier the preparation begins within the eligible window, the more complete the mastery. Age 10-12 for Class 6 - start preparation as early in that runway as possible.
Kalaripayattu instructor from Kannur. Runs a traditional kalari training centre. Has taught for 15 years.
Son in Class 4. Father said - Kalaripayattu mein hum sikhate hain - shareer pe poora control. Dhyan, anushasan, dhairya. Yeh sab AISSEE mein bhi chahiye. Mera beta yeh sab kalari se seekha hai. Ab usse exam mein lagaye.
In Kalaripayattu we teach complete control over the body. Focus, discipline, patience. All of this is needed in AISSEE too. My son has learned all this from kalari. Now apply it to the exam.
The martial arts instructor recognizing that his son already has the discipline foundation - now needs to apply it specifically to academic preparation.
No state quota. National competition. Start in Class 4. Two years. The discipline foundation from Kalaripayattu training is a genuine head start.
Best Sainik Coaching in Kannur works for exactly this Kalaripayattu instructor's son - ancient martial discipline applied to modern exam preparation.
Physical Fitness and Discipline - Exceptional where Kalaripayattu training is present. The body control, flexibility, and mental discipline from this 3,000-year martial tradition translate directly to exam-readiness discipline and to military physical standards. Among the strongest physical foundations in this entire project.
GK - Martial and Cultural Heritage - Kalaripayattu history. Cannanore Cantonment. Theyyam ritual performance. Handloom craft tradition. This is exceptionally distinctive AISSEE and RIMC GK material - genuinely unmatched martial arts heritage depth.
English - Good. Kerala's general English standard. Cantonment presence adds some military English culture.
Math - Good. Kerala's mathematical education tradition. AISSEE patterns need specific work.
Malayalam/English - Both comfortable. Language section easy.
Reasoning - Good. Kalaripayattu requires tactical thinking - anticipating opponent moves, reading patterns. This translates to AISSEE Intelligence sections.
Martial heritage GK and physical discipline are exceptional advantages - genuinely the strongest in this category across this entire project.
3,000 years. The oldest martial art tradition still actively practiced and taught.
It survived because each generation of teachers (gurukkal) trained the next generation completely - not partially, not casually. Complete transmission of technique, philosophy, and discipline.
Your child's preparation deserves the same complete transmission - not partial coverage of the syllabus, not casual study. Complete, systematic, disciplined preparation across two years.
Kalaripayattu's 3,000-year survival proves that complete, disciplined transmission works. Apply it.
For Class 6 entry - start in Class 4. Two full years. The martial discipline foundation, if present in the family, is a genuine head start. For Class 9 entry - start in Class 7. One year solid. For RIMC - start in Class 6. Kalaripayattu and cantonment heritage give exceptional interview material. Physical fitness is likely already exceptional. Build Math and English specifically.
