Documents Required for AISSEE 2026 E-Counselling Verification: Full List

Mehta ji called me at 8 AM on a Thursday.

"Sharma ji, my son got allotted Sainik School Chittorgarh. Document verification is day after tomorrow. I have most things ready but I'm not 100% sure I have everything. Can you just tell me the complete list?"

This call happens every single year. After results. After allotment. Two days before verification. Parents scrambling.

The frustrating part is that this scramble is completely avoidable. Every document on the list is predictable. None of it is a surprise. The problem is nobody gives parents a clean, complete list before they need it urgently.

So here it is. Every document you need for AISSEE 2026 e-counselling verification. What format it needs to be in. What authority needs to have issued it. And what trips people up with each one.

Why Document Verification Is More Serious Than Parents Think

Let me be direct about this first.

Document verification is not a formality. Schools reject documents every year. Students who cleared written exam, got good ranks, went through entire e-counselling — they lose their seats here. At the last stage. Because one document was wrong format or missing.

The school has no flexibility here. They follow rules. If your domicile was issued by wrong authority — rejected. If birth certificate date doesn't match admit card — rejected. If category certificate doesn't say the right words — rejected.

Seat goes to next student in line. No appeal. No second chance at same seat.

This is why you prepare documents before results even come. Not after allotment. Knowing common admission mistakes parents should avoid starts with document preparation — most families get this wrong every year.

The Master Document List

1. AISSEE Admit Card

The original admit card used during the written examination.

Not a photocopy. Not a phone screenshot. The original printed admit card or a clean printout of the downloaded version.

Bring multiple copies — original plus at least 3 photocopies.

Common mistake: Parents can't find original. They took exam 3-4 months ago and admit card is buried somewhere. Find it now. Before verification day.

2. AISSEE Scorecard / Result Document

Downloaded from the NTA website after results were declared.

Print it clearly. All details must be readable — roll number, name, marks in each subject, All India Rank, State Rank, Category Rank.

Bring original printout plus 3 photocopies.

If you haven't downloaded and saved this yet — do it immediately. NTA portals sometimes go down or results pages change. Save the PDF to multiple locations right now.

3. Birth Certificate

This is where the first major confusion happens.

What is accepted: Official birth certificate issued by Municipal Corporation, Gram Panchayat, or equivalent birth registration authority.

What is often NOT accepted alone: School leaving certificate or TC mentioning date of birth. This can be used as supporting document but typically cannot replace the official birth certificate.

The birth certificate must show child's name exactly as it appears on AISSEE admit card. Any spelling variation creates a problem.

Bring original plus 4 photocopies.

If you only have a school TC and no official birth certificate — get the official one made immediately. Municipal offices issue these. Takes 2-3 days typically.

4. Domicile Certificate

The most commonly rejected document. Every year without fail.

What is accepted: Domicile certificate issued by Tehsildar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, or District Magistrate. The issuing authority must be at Tehsildar level or above.

What is NOT accepted: Certificate issued by Village Panchayat head, Ward Councillor, or any authority below Tehsildar level.

The certificate must mention the child's name. Must have proper government seal and signature. Must be recent — many schools require it issued within the last 6-12 months. Check SOP for exact validity period.

State of domicile on certificate must exactly match what was entered during e-counselling registration. Any mismatch causes problems.

Bring original plus 4 photocopies.

Understanding state cutoff differences and home vs other state quota advantages shows exactly why getting the domicile right matters so much — your entire competition pool depends on it.

5. Category Certificate (SC / ST / OBC — if applicable)

For SC/ST: Certificate must be issued by Tehsildar or SDM. Must specifically mention the category. Must say it is for "Central Government purposes."

For OBC: Certificate must specifically say "Other Backward Class — Non Creamy Layer." The words "Non Creamy Layer" must appear. OBC certificate without NCL mention is not valid for central government quota.

Must be recent — OBC-NCL certificates have validity periods. Check yours is not expired.

Bring original plus 4 photocopies.

If you filled wrong category in AISSEE form and it doesn't match your certificate, that's a separate problem that needs to be addressed before verification day.

6. Transfer Certificate (TC) from Current School

Issued by current school on letterhead with principal's signature and school stamp. Must mention child's full name, date of birth, class, and reason for leaving.

The timing problem: Schools typically take 3-7 days to issue TC. If verification is in 2 days and you haven't applied yet — call school principal today. Most schools will expedite for Sainik School admissions.

Bring original plus 3 photocopies.

7. Medical Fitness Certificate

Not a generic "child is healthy" certificate from family doctor.

Format required: Certificate from registered medical practitioner (MBBS minimum) on doctor's letterhead with registration number. Must specifically mention:

  • Height and weight
  • Eyesight — right eye and left eye separately, with and without glasses
  • Dental condition
  • Flat feet — yes or no
  • Knock knees — yes or no
  • Overall fitness for residential school — Fit or Unfit

Must be recent — issued within last 1-3 months. Check SOP for exact validity.

8. Passport Size Photographs

Typical requirement: 10-25 recent passport size photographs.

White or light background. Clear face. No sunglasses. No cap. Recent — taken within last 3 months.

Write child's name and father's name on back of each photo in pen before going.

Bring 20-25 minimum. Schools use them for multiple purposes — admission forms, ID cards, records.

9. Parent / Guardian ID Proof

Aadhar card most commonly accepted. Both parents' Aadhar cards. Carry 2 photocopies each.

10. Allotment Letter

Downloaded from AISSAC portal after seat allotment. Print clearly. This confirms your child's school allotment. Schools ask for it at verification. Log in to AISSAC portal right now and download it if you haven't already.

11. Income Certificate (if applicable)

Required for fee concession or scholarship applications. Issued by Tehsildar or competent revenue authority mentioning annual family income. Not required for all students — check whether your category or scholarship application requires it.

12. Character Certificate

From current school principal on school letterhead with signature and stamp. Ask school for this alongside TC — both at the same time.

For Defence Category Students — Additional Documents

  • Service certificate from Commanding Officer (serving personnel) or discharge certificate (ex-servicemen)
  • Pension Payment Order if applicable
  • Relationship proof — birth certificate showing parent's name matches service record

How Many Copies of Everything

Document Originals Photocopies
Admit Card 1 3
Scorecard 1 3
Birth Certificate 1 4
Domicile Certificate 1 4
Category Certificate 1 4
TC from School 1 3
Medical Certificate 1 3
Photos 20-25
Parent ID (each) 1 2
Allotment Letter 1 2

Never hand over originals unless specifically asked. Hand photocopies. Keep originals in your bag. Ask for originals back if they were taken.

What To Do If A Document Has A Name Mismatch

Minor spelling variation — get an affidavit prepared by a notary explaining both names refer to the same person. Get it notarized. Carry with both documents.

Date of birth mismatch — more serious. Requires court affidavit and potentially gazette notification. Start immediately if you discover this.

Checking all document consistency well before verification is part of smart AISSEE exam preparation strategy that most families overlook until it's too late.

On The Day Of Verification

Reach 30 minutes early. Carry a folder with documents organised in order. Keep originals — don't leave them at home. Child should be presentably dressed. Carry fee payment readiness — some schools collect first installment at verification. Check with school in advance what payment mode they accept.

Bottom Line

Document verification is where prepared families sail through and unprepared families lose their seats.

Every document on this list is predictable. Start collecting now. Check formats against SOP. Verify names and dates match across all documents. Get affidavits ready for any genuine mismatches.

Arrive early. Carry originals. Bring more photos than you think you need.
